IN SEARCH OF DANIEL HERBERT’S CHILDHOOD

and ADOLESCENCE

There was a dreadful event in Manchester on August 16th, 1819. Daniel Herbert was 17 years old, likely to have been an apprentice stonemason. He could not have been ignorant or unaffected by the malicious events that rocked the day in the field in front of St. Peter’s Church.

It was called Peterloo.
